One of the most popular varieties in Strathtay Potato Company availability list is the variety WILJA.

This is the second early variety, producing long oval tubers much sought after due to their all round usability.  They are a very good boiling potato, they chip and roast well and are also used for baking, although they do sometimes have a courser skin after washing.  Wilja have maintained such a strong demand that Strathtay have designed a special "WONDERFUL WILJA" paper bag.

Other  popular varieties for the paper bag trade are:

ESTIMA, a bold oval shaped variety with a waxy texture.  Like WILJA it is multi-purpose and is popular as a baker due to it's smoother skin finish.

NADINE, a round variety with bright white skin finish and white flesh.  Nadine is well suited to the catering and peeling trade due to it's shallow eyes and it remains white after peeling.

MARIS PIPER, the old favourite.  A good all round variety particularly suited to the chipping trade.  Also suitable to the processing trade due to it's high Dry Matter content.

Washing and pre-packing samples are available with samples available from our own sample washer.

Peeling samples are tested and peeled through our own peeler enabling us to deliver the necessary specification.

Processing and chipping samples are tested for bruising and damage in the Strathtay sampling room along with Dry Matter testing using our own hydrometer.
